7th/8th Science – Owl Pellet Dissection Lab

We are currently learning about how organisms have changed over time (using the fossil record) and the similarities between our bone structures: one bone, two bones, many bones, and digits. We dissected owl pellets to see if we could see the same pattern. Scholars attempted to match up the bones of a rodent and bird. This required patience and gave them a glimpse into the difficulties of being a paleontologist and trying to find traces of full organisms with only parts and some pieces missing.
