Every Day Counts!
Arriving to school on time is an important trait to instill in your child as each day in the classroom is an opportunity for your child to learn and grow. Please schedule family vacations or appointments when school is not in session so scholars do not miss valuable instruction. Even if work is completed, scholars miss out on the academic conversations and extended learning that take place in the classroom. In addition, Mupu loses $** each day a child is not in school, regardless of the circumstance. We appreciate your support in ensuring scholars are at school and on time each and every day.
Reporting an Absence
If your child will be absent please call the office as soon as possible- (805) 525-6111, ext. 0 or send an email- theresa.brock@mupu.org. Please include child’s full name, date and reason of absence, and expected return. If you do not have access to phone or email, please send a signed note with your child the following day.
It is important to clear an absence as soon as possible. A truant is any student who is absent from school three times in the same school year without good reason or without permission from home or school (Education Code Section 48260). A total of 10 days absence per year is considered excessive.
Tardies
School begins at 7:50 a.m. Scholars who arrive at school after flag salute has started are considered tardy. If your child is more than 30 minutes late, a parent must sign them in at the office.
Early Release from School
If your child must leave early during the school day, a parent must sign them out at the school office. If somebody else will be picking up your child, you must notify us in advance and they must be authorized on the Emergency form as well.
