Good afternoon Mupu Families,

I know there is a lot of hesitation and concerns about reopening school on Monday.  I want to start by saying how important it is for our students to be in school and to go back to their routines.  We are keeping an eye on the weather and I want to assure you that in my conversations with the head of Caltrans and law enforcement we did discuss having the hill in front of Mupu evaluated by Geo to ensure the stability.  Currently there is no cause for concern.  We will have law enforcement there to help on Monday during drop off and pick up.  Here is what we are asking in supporting a smooth opening:
1-  No parking just drop off and pick up in the drive thru lane
2-  Please have your child(ren) ready with backpacks to quickly jump out of vehicles, we will have extra staff and volunteers to help with this
3-  You will need to u-turn right at the end of the drive thru lane, staff will be there to help and ensure safety
4- Scholars will receive 2 ID cards to take home that can be used for easy entrance into the closed street, just show the Caltrans worker so they can let you by without spending a lot of time asking questions and backing up the line
5- For pick up we ask that you arrive at the time your eldest child is dismissed.  We cannot have vehicles parked in the drive thru lane for 15-20 minutes waiting, we will be asking you to u-turn and come back around if you arrive too early.  We will make sure to rush students out on time so that we can get the line moving as quickly as possible.

I want to assure you that the staff and I have met and discussed emergency procedures in case of the need for an evacuation.  I will send this plan out later this week, but we feel confident and prepared to keep your children safe, this is our utmost priority.  Thank you for entrusting your children to us and for your patience and consideration during these difficult times.

Dr. Batista
